In the era background of the "convergence" of Global culture and the signifying and surface-tendency of regional culture,vernacular architecture is suffering brutally damage, traditional architectural culture was forced to be moved towards to decline and perish, how to make "Vernacular architecture modernized, modern architecture regionalized" and coordinate the protection and development becomes the problem that contemporary architects must face. Yunnan is a multi-ethnic areas with profound vernacular architecture cultural accumulation, and traditional dwelling as an important "member" of vernacular architecture have agglomerated the wisdom and creativity of ancestor which has unique geographical characteristics and distinctive national character, it still valuable to dig deeply and research in contemporary.This thesis with the perspective of tectonic theory via analysis the connotation and the extension of tectonic theory that obtain the hierarchical relationship of tectonic "material-structure-skill-place". On the basis of this hierarchical research, firstly, combing the tectonic ideology of vernacular architecture in Yunnan concluded that traditional dwelling generally with a construction logic and tectonic expression. Secondly, take the Jingmai Dai, Yuanyang Hani traditional dwellings for example, combine with the interview and investigate and the mapping data, fill "self-construct" mode of traditional dwelling into the tectonic theory research framework, dig deeper into the tectonic logic of traditional dwelling material noumenon and the construction culture of spiritual noumenon, then emphasizes the intrinsic value of traditional dwellings under the era background, thereby to provide theoretical support for the reality existence meaning of traditional dwellings. Thirdly, in the tectonics research level and combine realistic demand of dwellings development, then put forward the "Authenticity" protective principle of traditional dwellings and "Explanatory" updating principle of new dwellings, so to provide a new perspective for traditional dwelling inheritance and development. Eventually, deliberate the role orientation and strategies of modern architect in this process by experienced firsthand of dwelling protection practice in Jingmai,Yuanyang area, accordingly to explore a benign development path under a paradigm shift that from traditional "self-construct" mode to contemporary "Architect participation" mode.
