Substation is the core component of power system. It is the focus of power management work that ensures the substation equipment in a stable condition. In recent years, several safety accidents occur due to the equipment aging and equipment quality problems, caused huge economic loss.In this paper, failure prediction of electrical equipment and residual life evaluation method ware studied which reduces the equipment failure rate and improves the operation reliability of electrical equipment。This paper proposes an reliability index system and determines its definition.A fault analysis method, which conducted the example analysis through Fault Tree Analysis,is discussed. It detects the weakness of the electrical equipment and find out the cause of malfunctions in order to figure out a measure to improve the reliability of the products.Based on these analyses, an evaluation model is established according to AMSAA.This model performs well in bathtub curve fitting and proves its applicability in reliability evaluation when applied to the example simulation.Furthermore, with proper extension,a fault-rate prediction could be obtained after the curve-fitting.A higher predicted fault-rate leads to an specific maintenance strategy to eliminate the unobvious malfunction and enhance the performance of equipment as well as its service life。Power system equipment with large quantity belong to different manufacturers. The operations of equipment are very complicated. The reliability and remaining life of equipment are directly related to the safety and economic operation of power grid. In this paper, the reliability and the service life of equipment were evaluated by using the proposed model. The results can provide valuable reference for equipment maintenance, replacement and retired。...
