In recent years, the continuous development and growth of China’s electric power industry, and increasing high power nonlinear load of the industry impact on the power system. The harmonic pollution is also showing a rising trend. Lack means of reactive power regulation will lead to a lack of power system bus voltage change with the system operating mode and undergoing tremendous changes, caused a lot of power quality problems.The basic principle of the reactive power compensation, analyzes the no adverse impact on power system reactive power, explains the necessity and significance of reactive power compensation, introduces four kinds of commonly used form, reactive power compensation mode, reactive power compensation on the electric energy quality and determine the main role reactive power compensation method.
