With the improvement of living standard, the demand for cars is rising. The environment is suffering from the more and more severer harms because of the cars. In order to alleviate the impact of cars on the environment, many scholars are researching on using wind produced in the running process of the automobiles to generate electricity. Patents based on the vehicle wind power generation technology have been authorized by the State Intellectual Property Office since21Century.This study is about the power generation system based on the wind produced in the running process of the automobiles. This system can recover wind power for automobiles so that it is beneficial to energy saving and environmental protection. A power system is designed through the study of Bates theory and other wind power generation technology and the previous research results. The system is installed in the car vents, including the wind guide cover, wind turbine, blade, rectifier and so on. A wind guide cover model is established in Gambit by using the method of Computational Fluid Dynamics. Optimization results of the wind guide cover size and parameters are obtained by using Fluent to simulate. According to the wind guide cover size and parameters, the number of leaves, the layout of leaves and the sizes of leaves are designed. The blade’s attack and installation angle are solved by using analytical and simulation methods. According to the existing wind tunnel test device, suitable generator, accumulator and other power components are selected and the test table which assembled with generator and assembly method of generator and blade and blade’s attack and installation angle are designed. All the parts designed will be made into objects and wind tunnel test can test the simulation results, the loss of wind power generation system is obtained. The amount of power and wind energy utilization coefficient of the system are got under the wind speed of20m/s. Explore the power performance under different wind speeds and estimate how much energy the vehicle wind power generation system can save for a pure electric car. Finally some suggestions on utilization of automobile wind power are given.
