Research On The Tendency Of The Development And The Application Of Architectural Parametric Design

In the digital age, the application of parametric technology spread more and more widely in the architecture design. As a means of Computer Aided Design, parametric technology can not only make the architects achieve their design goals more easily, but also expended the possibilities of architectural space and modeling design. Architecture parametric design includes many kinds of design methods which have parametric design idea, these methods have different development processes, and they can solve different problems in the process of architecture design.In this paper, author used the origin of architecture parametric design as the breakthrough point, summarized the developments and the applications of different architecture parametric tendency. Through the analysis of the cases, author described how to apply different parametric design technologies in different architecture design stages. There are two origin and development clues of the architecture parametric design in this paper, according to the two clues, author divided the development and the application of the architecture parametric design into two tendencies. In the first part of the paper, author discussed the origin and the development from the perspective of computer technology, philosophy and architectural theory. The second part of this paper has introduced the software of architecture parametric design, as well as how to apply these softwares. In the last chapter, author discussed the problems that exist in the contemporary architecture parametric design from a critical perspective, and made a prospect for its future development.
