Commercial street is not only an significant place for shopping, entertainment and communication, but also an important place for showing a city’s image and culture. Consequently, it also has achieved top focus by citizens. My paper carries on space analysis research based on accessibility, pedestrian comfort, spatial dimension and ground floor vitality, combined with summary of the construction histories of Xidan, Wangfujing and Qianmen. In terms of accessibility, it mainly demonstrates the integration and accessibility between the three based on space syntax. In terms of pedestrian ccmfort, it mainly carries on a series aspects of pedestrian system, traffic capacity, pavement etc. In terms of space dimension, it mainly analyses spatial form data of the three. In terms of vitality, it reflects the connection between commercial street and city’s landscape dimension.My paper is divided into five chapters. The first one has introduced background, world’s current research result, intention and significance of the theme. The second one has introduced related concepts and theories. The third one has illustrated the structure of commercial centre in Beijing and the construction history of study subjects. The fourth is the main one, which states the study process and result. The fifth one has provided valuable advises based on former analysis.Construction history research and the related spatial analysis of the three commercial streets arouse my deeply thinking on commercial streets’public spaces in downtown, such as "pedestrian priority","publicity" and forth on. Then, the improved advises which are based on detailed analysis and data are not a precedent, but with quality of experimental approach. I intend to gain intensive acquaintance of commercial street and urban life through a series of research.
