Correlation Research On Route Choice Of Walkers And Environment In Outdoor Commercial Street

Outdoor commercial street is an important part of cities, and it’s also an important place for citizens to do activities. But during the using, there may appear problems include different streets have different visiting rates, and unbalanced economic development. The thesis will talk about the relationship between the route of walkers and the space of outdoor commercial, based on the PSPL Method and Space Syntax theory. Analyzing the differences between practical using and analog computation, hope to summarize the factors that affect the route of walkers, so that can give reference to spatial planning and designing for outdoor commercial in theory.First, the research begins with the actual using of outdoor commercial street. Observing and recording routes of walkers by their behaviors, and choosing special street according to the number of people, as an example for evaluating the space quality. Second, according to the PSPL Method, we may put forward the index set for evaluating the space quality of outdoor commercial street. Designing a questionnaire and give out to visitors, analyzing and summarizing the quality character of the street and analyzing the influence of different space quality to walkers and draw the conclusion that street vitality, easily reached by block entrance, rich commercial pattern are the important factors which attract visitors to walk by. Then, in Space Syntax Theory as the basics of the study of the relationship between space grid and the people flow distribution mode in the same region, and know that the intensive degree of space mode and the size of depth values are important factors of people flow distribution. On this basics, using comparative analysis of the similarities and differences of people flow mode between practical using and space syntax, and know the differences of people flow between the result of space syntax and the actual spatial, the reason is that the space syntax can’t distinguish space quality from human factors on people flow mode. Last, for outdoor commercial street in the process of initial planning designing and using, put forward some suggestions that settling down the important commercial form in the street entrance, and for the space that far away from the entrance can improve the node number to increasing more visitors to walk by, and reduce some bad things of the streets.
