The development of power system is mutually reinforcing of the innovation of relevantscience and technology of electrical theory, electrotechnics such as material, process,manufacturing.With the rapid development of the technology, the power system relatedtechnologies have also been changed. As we known, the power system is bearing the weight of thetasks of electric power energy delivery, though the control and protection for the power systemhave a qualitative leap owed to the rapid development of computer technology and automationtechnology, the power operation unit has been facing the problem of temperature monitoring andtouring for electrical equipment. Up to now, artificial temperature measuring method can’t satisfythe automation power grid. Condition monitoring and intelligent control are the developingdirection of the grid, temperature measurement for electrical equipment is also an important subjectfor power system related vendors. With the development of computer technology, sensortechnology, optical fiber communication technology and wireless network technology, wirelesstemperature monitoring system becomes the focus research direction in the field of the electricpower production.This paper combined the actual requirement of electric power production, then, pointed out thedifficulty and necessity of power equipment temperature measurement, and analyzed of the currentcommon used in the production of temperature measuring means and methods, comprehensives theconditions of the studies in the field of measuring temperature at home and abroad. In the end,proposed the focus of the research on wireless temperature measuring system. Companioned withthe production research and development projects, this paper described the wireless temperaturemonitoring system from the following several aspects in detail, the structure and the theory of thesystem, the most important component, the system solutions and the function of the software.Furthermore, commissioning work for the wireless temperature monitoring system in substationverified that the system of wireless network can fit the field application requirements, andsuccessfully implemented the function of on-line real-time monitoring and early warning of theequipment temperature. The result of the commissioning show that the wireless temperaturemonitoring system has practical value which can bring convenience for the operation maintenanceof the power system, and can create benefits for the electric power enterprise.
