As the increase of the coal mining production, Flameproof diesel engine, one of the most important vehicle power is used more and more frequent because of its advantages in power and flexibility. While the existence of gas in mine makes the mine a inflammable and explosive place, while the exhaust temperature of the diesel engine is very high, cooling down the temperature of the exhaust gas becomes one of the most key program and precondition before the using of diesel engine in mine. Water-washing tank is dedicated to cooling down the temperature of the exhaust gas, so it’s very essential to make research of the Water-washing tank’s cooling property.Taking flameproof diesel engine water-washing tank as the research subject, this paper uses fluid dynamics analysis software FLUENT to simulate and analyze the fluid flow characteristics of water-washing tank, and comes up with some comparative improvement schemes at the same time. The main research contents are shown as follows:(1) Elaborating the principles of heat transfer in water-washing tank, and computing the capacity of the water-washing tank in the basis of these principles. The request of water-washing tank structure design is also introduced in this paper.(2) With the help of FLUENT software,the general box water-washing tank is simulated. The function of damper screen and smoke screen board is also analysised. The results show that water-washing tank who fixed up the damper screen or smoke screen board is lower in exhaust gas temperature, and the exhaust gas temperature of water-washing tank who fixed up the smoke screen board is lower than the one who fixed up damper screen.(3) With the help of Gambit software, sandwich-type water-washing tank’s model is established, and is simulated in the FLUENT software. The results show that with the increase of velocity in inlet of tank, the bottom of the tank will appear some place whose temperature is too high. Thus, the plate-type thermal baffle’s function in solving this problem in introduced, and some improvements are also applied in plate-type thermal baffle. After simulating these situations, the high temperature area is disappeared as fixing up the plate-type thermal baffle, but the outlet’s temperature is higher than before. But the modified thermal baffle who is called concave-type thermal baffle presents lower temperature in outlet of water-washing tank.(4) The influence of inlet velocity on outlet temperature is analysised, the results show that the lower inlet velocity,the lower outlet temperature.(5) Three models of leading tube whose diameter is82mm、120mm、160mm are established. Simulating these models in FLUENT, the results show that the bigger diameter of leading tube, the lower temperature in water-washing tank’s outlet.but with the increasing of diameter the descender of outlet’s temperature is lesser. Actually the room of mine is very small, so the diameter of leading tube can be advisable increased.
