The Research Of Rural Spatial Differentiation In Southern Jiangsu

Since the reform and opening-up, from the South-Jiangsu pattern to theexport-oriented economy, and to the integration of urban and rural construction, along withthe turning of development power of rural area in Southern Jiangsu. The continuousdifferentiation of rural area in Southern Jiangsu has happened from below to above. Basedon this significant phenomenon, Economics, Sociology and Political science has analyzedit respectively based on rural economic transformation, social transformation andgovernance transition, but they are often short of the "space" in itself sufficient attention.Despite the Urban&Rural Planning School and Rural geography concerned about thespace itself, they are generally view the "space" in terms of "space", and frequently detachthe specific and localized social system environmental background which the spatialevolution rooted to analyze the space. Based on the theory of social space, this paperattempts to establish a theoretical framework of "social transformation-spatialdifferentiation", and with the "government-market-society" different combinations of thethree forces to portray social transformation, and implants rural area differentiation inSouthern Jiangsu in each specific period into the context of local social system change,from the macro and micro levels to analyze the characteristics, motivation and mechanismanalysis of rural spatial differentiation in Southern Jiangsu.Based on the characteristics of the social transformation in rural area of SouthernJiangsu, this paper divides the rural spatial differentiation into three stages, from the angleof social transformation and spatial differentiation, it analyzes the characteristics,motivation and mechanisms of rural spatial differentiation in various stages. It finds that:（1）In the stage of village community integration, the characteristics of rural spatialdifferentiation are that the Small Town developed rapidly in the villages and townsdimension; the differentiation in villages scale is that the spatial function and patternturned into “industrial production+agricultural production+habitation”. The ruralindustrialization and urbanization that The Grassroots Government driven and the portionreform of bottom-up market-oriented; and the rural land system arrangement of two-fieldsystem promote the rural spatial differentiation in Southern Jiangsu jointly（.2）In the stageof Market-driven, the characteristics are that the space shift from decentralized smallurbanization to centralization urbanization in the region scale and then the industrialproduction was separated from the village space gradually in the town scale. The governments promote the market economy actively through the market constructionactively, such as the reform of township enterprises and inviting investment. With thedevelopment of market forces, the market force has grown to the driving force of spatialdifferentiation. The property rights reform of elements and the reconstruction which thecapital affects are mechanisms for spatial differentiation.（3）In the stage of regionalgovernment guided, the characteristics are that urban regionalization in the region scaleand larger-scale differentiation of rural space once again. The local governments acceleratethe rural spatial differentiation through the land joint-stock cooperative system and "threecentralized, three replacement" policy, and rural planning, etc.
