The bearing is an essential part of all types of machinery, and the steel ball is thekey part of ball bearings. The manufacturing precision of steel balls has an extremelyimportant impact on the bearing as well as the behavior of the entire mechanicalstructure. It is shown statistically that steel balls account for60%of all factors thataffect the noise of the ball bearings and58.5%of the bearing failure.Steel ball grinding machine is one of the key equipment in the grinding ballprocess. Under certain pressure, grinding disc has the complex relative motion with theball in order to make it grinded and processed. Grinding disc is installed on the fixedplate. The deformation of the fixing plate directly affects the deformation of thegrinding disc, which affects the machining accuracy of steel balls. The deformation andstress of the fixed plate units are important factors to affect the accuracy of steel balls.In this paper, in order to improve the machining accuracy,stability and processingefficiency of steel balls, the structure of the fixed plate of steel ball grinding machine isanalyzed and structural parameters is optimized by using the finite element method andoptimal design method.This paper mainly makes these research:(1) The fixed plate should be taken into consideration in analysis to establishanalysis model by using the APDL language of the finite element analysis softwareANSYS.In order to provide a theoretical basis for further design, the modal and staticanalysis of the fixed plate are made.(2) By using the optimization module of ANSYS, the optimization design of thefixed plate of steel ball grinding machine is made.(3) In order to compensate the defect of ANSYS optimization algorithms, theSecondary development of ANSYS is made based on Genetic Algorithm.Finally, this paper summarizes the research work and analyzes the shortcomings ofthe research.
