The hydraulic and hydropower projects are characterized with large scale, complexity and great influence from the natural. It is of great realistic significance tomake the practical construction schedule to ensure the quality, speed up the progressand improve the security of the construction process. However, the network planningnow is still mostly made by man, even though with the assist of the software such asP3(now P3e/c) and MS Project, its quality and efficiency are still limited. For large-scale hydraulic and hydropower projects, the quality of networkplanning is the key factor for ensuring the quality of the hydraulic constructionprojects. The network planning assisted generation problem has a lways been the keyissues in network schedule planning. From the1970s since its emergence, researchershas put forward the theory and method of automatic assisted generation of networkplanning combining expert system, engineering case-based reasoning, and projecttemplates reasoning and CAD(computer aided design), IFC(industry foundationclasses), BIM(building information modeling). But most of these methods do notinvolve the complex hydraulic and hydropower projects and network planning ismade with single source of knowledge.Aiming at the problems existed in the network planning, this paper introducesthe concept of ontology to study the organic fusion and integration of knowledge frommultiple knowledge sources such as the expertise, project cases, project templates and3D models and so on. We also put forward the method of automatic assistedgeneration of network planning. We have carried out these kinds of work in this paper.(1)Aiming at the various characteristics of multiple knowledge sources in thegenerating process of hydraulic and hydropower projects, we analyze theorganizational forms and organizational mechanisms of structured knowledge(2) We research into the path and method of knowledge discovery according tothe three-dimensional models containing large numbers of implicit spatial informationand building components and other schedule planning engineering informationneeded.(3)Through the research and analysis of large-scale hydraulic and hydropowerprojects construction process and determination of the logic relationships between theprocesses, we research on the knowledge representation system of reasoning rulesadapted to the hydraulic and hydropower projects. (4)Introducing the concept of ontology and using object-oriented concepts, weresearch on the basic mechanisms of network schedule generation frommulti-knowledge-sources knowledge fusion based on the theory of ontology.
