With the development of productivity and the improvement of living standard, Thescope of public services have become wider and wider and the quality of public service hasbeen challenged by people. Public services in our country have changed fromefficiency-type into to benefit-type. So people’s satisfaction becomes one of the mostimportant design principles of public services. Waiting is a serious pain point in publicservices, which affects the people’s satisfaction a lot.City bus system is one of the most high-frequently used public services. People hatewaiting a lot. The probability of long-time waiting in a bus trip would bring people negativeemotion, which has a negative impact on public services. Because of the operatingmechanism of bus system, features, the larger and lager populations, limited resources andso on, it is impossible to solve the waiting problem completely in the city bus system. Inother words, trying to create a better waiting experience in bus station by public facility andservices design is important.By doing deep research on the theory of waiting, the paper tries to find out thoseelements that affect people’s activity and mentality while waiting. First step is to find outthe fundamental needs of city bus system from the perspective of people’s activity andmentality while waiting, and then put forward innovation and new direction in city bussystem and facilities design, which can improve the waiting experience in bus stop andsatisfaction in public transportation system a lot..
