The priority development of public transport is of great significance to ease traffic congestion,and the bus travel time is an important indicator affecting the quality and attractiveness of the bus system,and the waiting time is an important part of the bus travel time.The tolerance threshold of bus waiting time reflects the maximum waiting time that travelers can tolerate.Studying the tolerance threshold of bus waiting time can help us comprehensively and profoundly understand the perception and attitude of travelers to the waiting time,so as to take targeted countermeasures to improve the proportion of bus trips,which is of great significance in bus operation and management.Based on the survey data of Kunming city,this paper makes an empirical study on the tolerance threshold of waiting time.Firstly,the distribution characteristics of waiting time tolerance threshold were statistically analyzed,and it was found that the tolerance threshold of waiting time was mainly distributed in the interval of [5,20)minutes,accounting for 75.1%.Among them,the largest proportion is in the range of[10,15] minutes,accounting for 30.7%.The average waiting time tolerance threshold was 14.8 minutes.There are group differences in the groups divided by the individual attributes,family attributes and travel characteristics.And the rank sum test was used to test the distribution discrepancy of different groups of TTWT,the inspection found that there were significant differences in the distribution of TTWT between groups divided by education and bus travel frequency.Furthermore,the structural equation model is used to analyze the influence mechanism of each variable on the tolerance threshold of waiting time and the internal influence mechanism among the variables.The results show that environmental awareness has a significant positive impact on attitudes towards public transport and cycling,both public transport attitude and environmental awareness have a significant positive impact on the frequency of public transport,cycling attitude has a significantnegative impact on the frequency of public transport,the bus travel frequency has a significant positive effect on the tolerance threshold of bus waiting time.The latent variable of attitude has no significant direct influence on the waiting time tolerance threshold,but has significant indirect influence on the waiting time tolerance threshold through the bus travel frequency,indicating that the bus travel frequency plays a very important intermediary role,and the attitude influences the waiting time tolerance threshold by influencing the bus travel frequency.Meanwhile,the influence effect and mechanism of personal attributes and family attributes on waiting time tolerance threshold are revealed.Education level has a direct influence on waiting time tolerance threshold,while gender,age,occupation and family annual income have indirect influence on waiting time tolerance threshold by influencing bus travel frequency.
