The hydraulic cylinder is actuator that makes use of liquid pressure to do straight linereciprocating movement or swing motion. It has the advantages of simple structure andreliable work. when it do reciprocating motion, can be subtracted from the device and notransmission clearance, the movement process is stable, widely used in aerospace,shilpbuilding, engineering machinery and other hydraulic systems. In the realization of highpressure, high efficiency, stability, durability, high integration and so on it has the very bigdevelopment. Improve the proportion of control, technology of digital control and servocontrol has made many new achievements. More and more significant in the development ofthehydraulicsystemcomputeraideddesign, simulation, optimization.In order to keep pace with other areas of new technology. Hydraulic technology needsto development and hydraulic components gradually improve the performance to meet theever-changing market demand. Hydraulic cylinder is an important component in thehydraulic system. The hydraulic cylinder seal assembly is an important guarantee for highefficiency and high pressure drive.The main content of this paper is on the analysis of largeextrusion machine hydraulic cylinder, hydraulic cylinder seal principle, the reasons of sealfailureandputsforwardthesolution.First of all, understand the structure of extrusion press hydraulic cylinder parts.According to the working pressure of the hydraulic cylinder, use formula and finite elementsoftware to analyse the stress of hydraulic cylinder. Study the sealing principle of the metalpiston ring seal, analyse causes of the seal failure and different sealing effects in cylinder andhydraulic cylinder. Through the derivation method to optimize the design of inner frame noopen type piston ring. Furthermore, introduce piston rings function, structure, type and theproduction process. Analyse failure process of piston ring, whether it is hydrauliccylinder orcylinder, once the piston ring pressure disappeared,work pressure is applied on both the innersurface and outer surface of the piston ring leading to seal failure.Finally, try to simulate theunrestrained piston ring with elliptic curve. Apply the bending theory of plane curved bar to analyze stress state of the piston ring.Reach the conclusion that the different parts of pistonring have different force and deformation. The problem of piston ring wear arediscussed.Introduce some methods for solving the unrestrained piston ring curve and analysfinite element methods.And making use of finite element analysis software simulate thecontact between the piston ring and the internal surface of cylinder. The simulate resultsshowthat it cannot be full contact between the piston ring and the internal surface of cylinderall the time as long as the pressure changes.study the possibility of both the radial pressurecurve of piston ring and the unrestrained piston ring curve are circular.The simulation resultsshowthat, theunrestrainedpistonring curvecanbedesigned intocircle.
