Intersection is the most conflicting and serious accident area in the entire urban trafficsystems. Therefore, combining modern computer technology, sensor technology andcommunication technology together, applying intelligent control for intersectionmanagement, to improve efficiency of traffic signal control and reducing delay time of theconflict zones, have great significance.This paper studied the city intersection signal control, using the microcosmicsimulation software VISSIM developed by German PTV Company to simulate theintersection signal control, and by the dedicated data interface VISSIM_COM provided bythe software, connect the simulation system and extern hardware system, collect thereal-time traffic data and signal control system data, output the simulation results and signalcontrol plan analysis.Thesis main work is as follows:1. Introducing the basic traffic simulation model and basic signal control method andcritical parameters, and analyzing the simulation influence of the basic simulation processand parameters;2. Designing the overall simulation system, and then dividing each function part intomodules, making scheme analysis and design separately, finally introducing the generalprocedures briefly;3. Making detailed introduction of the microscopic simulation software VISSIM, andchoosing intersections along Tianjin city Guangrong Road to establish standard simulationproject experiments, completing timing signal control simulation experiments; specificintersection are selected to make actuated signal control simulation experiment;4. Using the VISSIM_COM and external signal controller interface provided byVISSIM software, programming to fulfill the second development of the virtual simulationenvironment and real traffic data interface, and finally completing the real-time adjustmentand control of the signal scheme.
