Cemetery, as the burial place of the human soul, should be a pure land. However,with the rapid growing population of China in recent years, the burial places arelacking. Because of enhancing people’s aesthetic and cultural requirements and theimpact on the concept of avoiding the topic of life and death, the landscape design ofthe modern cemetery is facing many problems. It makes the study of the value oflandscape design highlight the significance of the cemetery.This article discusses the actual project-Pingshan County, Hebei Province,Zhongshan Mausoleum ancient landscape’s planning and design. It will explore how touse the garden-style cemetery layout and design approach combining local context, tosolve the problems of lacking in cemetery meaning and context of cultural heritage,resulting in a large number of developing albino cemetery in a desolate atmosphere.According to summarize the West and Chinese Cemeteries’ cases, as well as thepre-project study in person, I’ll conclude the development trend of Chinese moderngarden cemetery and the elements and design techniques in creating the cemetery.Design practice is from the macro planning and design, different levels of floorspace planning and design concept, and micro landscape nodes, to build a form ofgarden-style cemetery. I’ll combine ancient sites around Zhongshan cultural context, toexplore two levels of potential forms of burial space and cultural heritage, and strive tochange the bleak horror tradition of "Yidi" into " Yijing " Space for the dead and theliving soul to communicate with each other. It can solve the contradiction betweenmeeting demand of the number of burials and focusing on the ecological protection toprevent over-exploitation in the development process.
