With the accelerating urbanization process,urban expressways located in the rural-urban Continuum produce adverse ecological impacts to large natural ecological green land. Not only the change of plant and animal habitats, the physical and chemical properties in the environment, but also ecological system internal structure change process is included in these effects of road construction. Most of the research stays at the qualitative level, quantitative research is scarce and immature,and study on different scales is less scientific. So the study the scale of ecological green wedge research under the above background has certain theoretical and practical significance.Taking ecological green wedge surrounding Wuhan Ring Expressway as the research object, under the guidance of the theory of landscape ecology, urban planning, geographical informatics, ecological economics, land resource science, under the help of ArcGIS, ENVY4.8and Fragstats-4,technology,this essay is engaged in analyzing the change of land use cover structure,and the landscape pattern in1996,2000,2005and2009. it is concluded that:(1) the cultivated land and the construction land changes most obviously——the cultivated land waves instability and the construction land area is increasing year by year;(2) the construction’s main increasing part is from the cultivated land, and extends along the traffic line with the performance of "hydrophilic";(3) and overall landscape pattern tends to be fragmented.Based on the related theoretical study, combinng with the analysis results and the traffic construction influence in urban morphology evolution, taking the "land use planning in wuhan city (2006-2020)" and " the regulations for the basic ecological line of wuhan city (2012)" as reference,it intended to give protection strategies of ecological green wedge in wuhan city—greenway overall protection strategy in macro scale and ecological service function evaluation system in medium scale.(1) overall protection strategy of ecological green wedge based on the theory of greenway:the greenway plan positioning—urban and rural type greenway network in the urban-rural fringe with the planning objective of ecological/life style/economic/integration; it put forward greenway strategy such as function definition of ecological protection, recreation and heritage cultural; it Innovativly put forward constructing ecological corridor network system and recreation network system encircling the city, to combined greenway planning with protection of ecological green wedge surrounding Wuhan Ring Expressway;(2) individual protection strategy of ecological green wedge based on ecological service function: assessment processes-"division of land use types, definition of ecological service function, strategy of protection and utilization "; selection of evaluation system index and building evaluation methods. By means of ecological service function evaluation on different land use types, then determine the best way of different land use-ecological organization, recreation or biological production,and build protection strategy of different land use types on green wedge scale, whose operability is strong.
