With the continuous development of social civilization and construction, more and moreattention is paid on the occupational health and safety. The frequent security incident ofconstruction industry not only affects the long-term development of the industry, but alsothreatens the life and health of employees and building safety. Because of its owncharacteristics, construction companies have been the high incidence of accidents. In orderto improve the construction safety management, except the traditional techniques andmanagement tools, construction safety culture has been paid more and more attention inthe industry. Safety climate is usually used to describe the current state of safety culture, and then, quantitative analysis of safety culture can be achieved by safety climate survey. However, viewing from the domestic and foreign research findings on construction safetyculture and climate, there is seldom research on dimensions and measurements of safetyclimate in construction site.First, this thesis initially defines the dimension of the construction safety climate basedon the theoretical research. Second, referring to the Safety Climate Assessment Toolkitdeveloped by Loughborough University, a safety climate questionnaire which containsseven dimensions is prepared via a pre-survey and modification. And then, workers in aconstruction site in Dongguan City are selected as objects to conduct a survey. To verifythe reasonableness of the questionnaire, factor analysis, reliability analysis and validityanalysis are carried out. Third, the overall evaluation and differences analysis of safetyclimate in the construction site is performed. The overall evaluation shows that safetyclimate of the surveyed enterprises is good and there are no obvious security issues in theconstruction site. Meanwhile, along with the difference in age, years of service and safetytraining conditions, significant differences are existed among different groups of workers’feelings on safety climate. Finally, several improvement measures are proposed based onthe analysis results. The safety climate questionnaire and research methodology in thisthesis is useful for similar studies.
