In recent years, frequent earthquakes are serious threat to people’s life and property,the only thing we can do is to strengthen the defensive measures. When a disaster strikes,we can make the most timely remedial measures to assure the safety of people’s lives.Therefore, the construction of the shelter is becoming more and more important, Therequirements of the shelter is becoming more and more strict. For the majority of largeand medium-sized cities, there is no enough land resources to provide a large space aspost-disaster refuge. Changing the large space buildings into shelters become animportant topic today. How to reinforce and renovate the large space building to make itmeet the provisions of the shelter is the key point of this topic research.This topic according to the characteristics of large space building, and thecharacteristics of shelter. Put forward the proposals of corresponding reinforcement andwith PKPM software for the platform to build a model high school gymnasium, analysisthe reinforcement scheme. Through calculation, the gymnasium grid structure part canmeet the requirements of the relevant specification for design of places of refuge, so thistopic will focus on the analysis of large space building part of the reinforcement ofreinforced concrete structures.To calculation and analysis a high school gymnasium as an example, in the firstplace, consider using the conventional methods to reinforce the gymnasium. Using thePKPM software to build the model, and modify the columns and beams to make it meetthe specification requirements. After the completion of the modification, there are a lot ofdifficulties in construction, also is not in conformity with the green design concept. Alarge amount of data analysis proved that the method is not suitable for this constructionfor reinforcement. Considering the steel support to reinforcement of the gymnasium.After many test we can get the best reinforcement method, ensure that the building cansatisfy the specifications for design of disaster prevention shelter.
