"People-centered" theory marks the product designs go into the "age ofsensibility." Besides the functional requirements, as to get the spiritual satisfaction ofconsumers,products should also meet the individual and emotional needs ofconsumers. Kansei Engineering translates the experience and cognitive of consumersinto new product design elements with the engineering technology. The combinationof the best design elements will be selected according to the needs of different usersas to maximize the satisfaction of consumers.Due to the lots of advantages of electric bicycles,such as safety andenvironmental protection, electric energy supply, convenient and compact,noiseless,no exhaust pollution, reasonable price,they have become the reliable publictransportation mean. However, as most of the electric bicycles production in thedomestic market are just following the fashion trend or simply improve designs, thecompetition of electric bicycle industry is in the level of low price competition. Forthe lack of era sensation, originality and emotional design,the exterior design ofelectric bicycles ignore the emotional needs of consumers.For all the above reasons, combination of Kansei Engineering and multivariatestatistical analysis method are applied to explore the emotional designs of electricbicycles. main achievements are given below:(1)the thesis started from the perceptual demand of electric bicycles, discussingthe potential perceptual demand of the users,then the perceptual model in electricbicycle designing period is proposed to establish the mapping relationships betweemperceptual images and the design elements of the electric bicycle.Further more,themodel is adopted to give the guideline to the electric bicycle design for femalewhite-collar employees,which proves the availability and the effectiveness of theperceptual model.By taking advantage of the method,manufacturers can improves theadded perceptual value of electric bicycle.(2) The data mining of the design elements for electric bicycles are proceededaccording to the perceptual need of the users.The data acquisition process are moreobjective and of high precision by using the design methods,such as semanticdifference method, non-parametric test, reliability analysis, multidimensional scaling analysis, cluster analysis, multiple regression analysis.(3)As we know,electric bicycle industry are facing the great opportunity andchallenge that the market is during the tendency of “made in China” into branddesign.Add the users’ perceptual requirements into the design of electric bicycle tomeet the users’ anticipation. Personalized products can be made according to differentpeople.
