| Human beings began to have the deep feelings of water and plants both during their daily life and productions from the ancient times. People not only use water and plants as their materials for life and work, but also use them in building the cities. With the perfect combination of water and plants, the quality of environment and our sentiment are both highly improved.With the quick development of technology, the design for modern plant in waterscape has changed a lot, such as:the design for modern waterscape plants has been defined freshly because of the communications of multi-subjects and multi-locations. With the knowledge of modern literatures, arts, and architectures, we can use more thoughts and methods to deal with different designs. With the development of our society, the problems in designing for modern waterscape plants would be very different, therefore, the design for waterscape plants in our country should insist on traditions, follow the trends, and explore the new way of thinking and techniques.This thesis is based on analyzing some documentation and the actual cases to give the aggregate analysis of the histories and ideas from China and other countries in designing the waterscape plants. The author studies many different aspects to conclude some certain design methods and models. And this thesis analyze from followed aspects:1. From the historical aspect, the author firstly analyzes and compares the waterscape and its plants both in China and outside, and concludes some main features, then raise some problems and solutions in design compositions.2. From the aspects of space, sight, scale and aesthetics, etc, the author gives an aggregate analysis of expressions of the space images and then concludes the entire design steps of space images for waterscape plants.3. With some famous cases in China, the author brings the modern design's theory into the practical cases which let the theory of modern waterscape plants design can be used practically.
