Investigations And Research On Architectural Space Of Urban Village Reconstruction Residential Community

Along with the urbanization process of China, city construction land has graduallyexpanded outside the city’s area and the original suburban rural land become the newurban construction land subsequently. This process leads the suburb rural constantly tobe surrounded by the city. Combined with Chinese long-standing urban-rural dual landsystem, a large number of urban villages emerged since the90’s. With the problem andnegative impact of the growing number of urban village becoming more and moreserious, the reconstruction of urban villages has been on the agenda.Taking Xi’an for an example, much demolition work has been carried out in2010.A large number of urban village reconstruction residences have been used step by stepsince2012and a lot of problems of reconstruction residences design have been exposed.On one hand, increasing living cost force the original tenements move to other remoteurban villages which underlies the strange phenomenon that with the progress ofreconstruction work, urban villages are increasingly growing in number. On the otherhand, the residence in the reconstruction uptown which is designed for living istransformed to be commercial space and working space. Under the market demand,this different using character space organizes together and forms a special regular spacesystem. But the buildings which are not designed for rent,managing and working can’tmeet the needs of those users. In this context, the lets in reconstruction uptown are notas easy as before to be hired. The urban villagers living on rent of lets are not satisfiedwith this current situation of the reconstruction of urban villages.The author takes building space of urban village reconstruction uptown as theresearch object, and limits the research scope in high-rise reconstruction uptown of Xi’an. Basing on a certain number of rough researches, the author classifies thereconstruction uptown into five types and summarizes common problems of the fivetypes, then analyses the causes of these problems.On this basis, the author selects Garden Xihe uptown to research and analyze indetail. Focusing on functional form, using status and users’ needs, the author researchesthe characteristics and design requirements of the building space used by urban villagersand tenants in the reconstruction uptown. Then the author puts forward some designstrategies of the reconstruction uptown, and emphatically discusses the design methodsof rent space. This article provides the reference data and design basis on building spacedesign of urban village renovation projects, offers feasible ideas for inhibiting thedevelopment of urban village and solving the social problem by urban villagerenovation.
