A Comparative Study Of Wuhan New And Old Areas On The Perspective Of Compact City

The development of Wuhan has been through a long history,the urban area has a large number of various types of city blocks:Hankou has concessions similar to the western small-scale cities;Wuchang has a large number of courtyard city blocks including universities,institutions and factories.In the past three decades of development,the city has emerged a number of compound residential area,forming the urban space that a variety of modes coexist.In the rapid development of the city,the urban area has repeatedly expanded in a way of leaping or extending linearly along the main road of the city,which are the typical representatives of China's large cities disorderly expansion.In the further construction of the city,applying environmentally friendly and resource conservation development model has been urgent.Compact city model as an effective strategy for sustainable urban development has been promoted and practiced more than 20 years in worldwide.It has been fruitful in balancing urban high-speed development and environmental protection,which indicates the city development direction for our country and has reference value to the choice of specific strategies for the development of Wuhan.In this study,the comparison between the old and the new areas is taken as the main body of the study from the perspective of compact city,and the basic logic is formed by the following four parts:The first part analyzes the problems in urban development in China,briefly introduces the background,object and method of the research,combs the context and structure of the whole text,and determines the main frame of the study.The second part concludes the background,theoretical development and research results of the compact city,and summarizes the practical process and content of the implementation of the compact city strategy at home and abroad.The third part analyzes the theory of compact city and the concrete practice.Combined with a series of urban problems in the process of urbanization in China,this paper puts forward the research contents and summarizes the measurement and basic characteristics of urban area research under the compact city perspective from the qualitative and quantitative aspects.The forth part implements field investigation and data collection of specific cases of new and old districts in Wuhan,and carries out research and analysis on the specific characteristics of high density,traffic diversification and functional mixing in a specific urban area under a compact perspective.Based on the comparative study between the old and new urban cases,this paper summarizes the different characteristics of new and old Area in Wuhan in the view of compact city,hoping to provide the research foundation and further development suggestions for the implementation of the compact city strategy in Wuhan.
