The watch’s modelling is flexible and diverse, and function is complex and variable, so that the demand of personalization and market rapid response is higher than other construction machinery. At the same time, the watch is a precision instrument, whose accuracies, standardization and structural performance also have higher requirements. The traditional design pattern is seriously restricted, especially in lack of 3D design, virtual simulation analysis and knowledge reuse, etc. Therefore, this article puts forward the intelligent design technology to improve the agility and quality of the watch design.Intelligent design technology is based on knowledge of product development technology, which applies knowledge engineering, UG secondary development, parameterized and characteristic variant of model, computer technology, database development technology, etc. Based on design characteristics and industry reality demand, this article starts research and applications of intelligent design technology for watch product, the focus of the research are as follows:First of all, through the analysis of intelligent design and products’characteristics, the function model of intelligent design system is put forward, and analyzes the design method and implementation principle of each business module and knowledge base system. Secondly, this article studies deeply in the application technology of watch’s knowledge, puts forward the subject oriented knowledge classification method, to the rule knowledge, its representation compounds object-oriented and production, inferring is based on order queue algorithm, using maximum a posteriori theory to evaluate, and this article also provides the acquisition strategy of association rules and configuration rules; The representation of case knowledge is based on semantic network, the case retrieval is through the nearest neighbor algorithm; The constraint knowledge is defined in the KF module, which describes geometric constraints and project constraints of model and realizes automated reasoning. Then, this article discusses the development of the knowledge base, sets up the rule base, case base and the record base, and discusses the method of storage and management. Finally, this article completes the development of intelligent design system by VisualStudio2008 as development tool, UG8.5 as secondary development object,3-tier C/S architecture base on.NET as system structure, and completes the software demonstration.Compared with the common mechanical parametric design software, the innovation of platform displays in the following aspects:the design process is oriented by knowledge and demand, highly integrates the configuration and variant design, and realizes intelligent decision for configuration and parameters; Variant template is based on the top-down design concept, compounds a variety of parametric and characteristic design method, and only a set of template can demonstrate all variant forms of components and characteristics; Platform simplifies the artificial parameters definition, uses navigation guide to ensure normative process, and develops the function of animation simulation for complex dimension chain and the appearance modelling design, which reduces the threshold of design, improves the human-computer interaction.
