There are many reasons of early damage of asphalt pavement in our country,but the water damage is one of the most serious reason. The failure characteristics are: The lower asphalt road off from the aggregate surface is causcd by road surface bleeding and serious rut deformation, this phenomenon often occurs in large traffic volume and traffic load on the road. Large area pavement early damaging causcd by the water damage is very common in our country a lot of highway.Just in a short period of time after the opening to traffic and t the end of the construction after the opening to traffic, the road is will appear this kind of phenomenon,it is what give rise to the huge direct and indirect economic loss. Now The water damage of asphalt pavement is not only facing the problems of our country, roadworkers all over the world have done a lot of research on this problem, the Canadian Transportation Association of the world’s most authoritative and USA SHRP pavement of long term performance of group of experts for the study on the problem of water damage of asphalt pavement is a monographic study on long a period of time. The researching of asphalt pavement water damage problems, strengthening the understanding of the water damage in asphalt pavement, so as to prolongging the service life of pavement, reduccing maintenance cost, improving the driving comfort of pavement has become the primary task of the development of the road. And the problem of water damage in asphalt pavement has become a roadblocks what has to beat in the direction of road construction.Based on analysis and comparison of the asphalt mixture water stability test method, determining the basic method of this paper is immersion rutting test. First of all, through a variety of raw materials testing laboratory required on this subject, to ensure that the indicators meet the standard requirements. First of all, I test the variety of raw materials required on this subject in laboratory, to ensure that the indicators meet the standard requirements. Determine to three kinds of asphalt, determine the three types of grading, consisting of nine kinds of optimum asphalt content of asphalt mixture. Then start the immersion rutting test according to the results. Determine the experiment scheme in accordance with the orthogonal table L25(56) under the conditions of 5 factors and 5 levels, orthogonal experiments were carried out to find the most sensitive conditions of water damage of asphalt mixture. Finally, starting the immersion rutting test and rutting test of the nine kinds of asphalt mixture under the determined conditions, analysis the influence of asphalt and gradation to the results of immersion rutting test and rutting test, introduce the concept of residual dynamic stability According to the residual stability, determine the intensity ratio of immersion dynamic stability and dynamic stability of all kinds of the asphalt mixture, in order to get a kind of asphalt mixture with good water stability which is suitable for practical production, at the same time also verify the feasibility of immersion rutting test for the ability of resistancing to water damage of asphalt mixture.
