Use Of Crumb Rubber Modified Asphalt In Pervious Pavement

In recent years, pervious pavement has caught much attention for being mist-and glare-proof, noise-easing and skid resistible. With high voidage, it could not be made without asphalt mixtures of high viscosity. Quality of high-viscosity asphalt is critical to the performance of pervious pavement, thus the better the asphalt, the better the pavement will be.Conclusions in this thesis are drawn from results of laboratory experiments in which SBS, crumb rubber and terpene resin are added into Singapore Shell 70# asphalt to make the high-viscosity modified asphalt. By studying the effect of the volume of SBS, crumb rubber and terpene resin on the softening point, penetration, ductility and viscosity at 60℃, we get to know the volume of the modifiers best for making high-viscosity asphalt.Experiments show that, compared with that of the SINOTPS, RMC and Shell in terms of penetration and viscosity, the asphalt made in the said way is the least temperature-sensitive. In addition, the rolling thin film oven test(RTFOT) showes that the four aged asphalt demonstrates lower penetration and ductility while higher viscosity. Furthermore, the dynamic shear rheological test on the original and aged sample of the four kinds of asphalt shows that the self-made asphalt demonstrates better high temperature behaviour.If the voidage of the pavement is 20%, infiltration of sieve pore of 2.36 mm will be12% and the mineral aggregate gradation will be OGFC-13. Furthermore, through the drain-down test and scattering loss test, the best asphalt-aggregate ratio for the four kinds of asphalt comes clear. Tests on the high-temperature stability, low temperature crack resistance, water stability, skid resistance and water permeability of the four kinds of asphalt show that though all of them can meet the requirements of pervious pavement,the self-made high-viscosity modified asphalt demonstrates better comprehensive performance.
