Research And Development Of The Display Technology Of AIS ASM Based On The Android Platform

Automatic Identification System(AIS), which is forced to equip in the shipping vessels, has played an important role in terms of ship navigation safety. As an information service system for maritime safety, AIS also has a great potential in supporting marine management, monitoring marine traffic, protecting maritime security and other fields. AIS applicable and special messages(ASMs), Which is transmitted in binary form, will be used in digital communication of maritime safety/security information between ships and shore stations more and more.At present, Android system is the mainstream operating system of smart phones and tablet PCs, its market share has been rising, especially in the domestic, and due to its open source and free characteristics, it has a very large amount of popularity in the low-end market. Therefore,this paper proposes the AIS ASM information display technology program based on the mobile platform of Android under the background of International Maritime Organization(IMO)actively promoting the AIS ASM to apply, and to research and develop it.Android AIS ASM information display terminal based on the Android platform developed in this paper, aims to parse and process the ASM and make them display on the electronic chart.The main content of this paper includes four aspects: First, researching the Android system simply and developing Android applications in the Eclipse development environment; Second,tracking the status and application of AIS ASM and analyzing and studying the parsing process for AIS messages; Third, proposing the overall design and programming design for ASM information display terminal, and encoding the Terminal applications in accordance with the terminal design program and combining the "Application Guidelines for AIS applicable and special message"; Fourth, building a display terminal emulation runtime environment,commissioning the terminal system and recording displayed results. Finally, the results show that the AIS ASM display terminal researched and developed in the paper receives the goal to reach and parse the messages real-time, and realizes the function of parsing and processing the ASM message and to display them.
