With the research and development of computer software about the hydraulic structure. CAD design of two dimension already can’t satisfy people’s requirement, three dimensional parametric design become the inevitable trend of design development. In the world, the CATIA software stand the leading position in the field of CAD/CAE/CAM. At present, it has been widely used in aerospace, machinery manufacturing, civil engineering and other fields, and develop to the water conservancy and hydropower, geotechnical engineering, resources and environment areas. Using CATIA software for three dimensional design of hydraulic structures is the optimal choice.In this paper, through research and development of CATIA software, to establish a fast and accurate 3 d parametric design system of arch dam. Through further enrich and thin arch dam design templates, and puts forward the design of the procedural steps, further improve modeling efficiency and accuracy, using CATIA platform for creation of water resources and hydropower engineering innovative design conditions.By studying the CATIA platform with Visual Basic program interface problems, using the convenient Visual Basic language ability of programming, and fully combined with the powerful 3 d design using CATIA, extend the CATIA function module, can deeper using CATIA 3 d parametric model. Then combined with Visual Basic programming calculation of arch dam stability against sliding coefficient of human-computer interaction interface, formed based on CATIA platform arch dam abutment stability against sliding analysis system.Based on rigid body limit equilibrium method of arch dam abutment stability against sliding problem analysis, and in the two-dimensional or three-dimensional case, analysis of arch dam abutment stability against sliding coefficient, and consider the calculation method of standardization of various geological conditions. On the basis of analysis of arch dam abutment geological features, using Visual Basic language for the development of man-machine interactive interface. At last, we can develop the arch dam stability against sliding analysis function module based on Visual Basic platform.This article is based on three-dimensional design software CATIA platform, and establish the man-machine interface exchange system of arch dam three-dimensional design, which through the secondary development work, expanding stability against sliding analysis function module of arch dam based on two-dimensional or three-dimensional rigid body limit equilibrium method. So we can form of the design-analysis integration of the standard design process of arch dam based on CATIA platform.
