Research On Vessel Traffic Simulation System Based On Maritime Simulator

With the development of marine technology and the growth of world import and export trade volume, vessel performance has been improved, and vessel traffic density has been increased, leading to the change of vessel traffic flow distribution, channel congestion, and more maritime traffic accidents. These changes require the vessel traffic management authority, the port and the mariner to provide the more safety and greater efficiency of vessel traffic. A comprehensive vessel traffic simulation system will be useful for the simulation of vessel traffic service processes, the training of maritime related personnel, the simulation of marine traffic environment and experiment and demonstration. To meet the demand of vessel traffic simulation, this paper designed the vessel traffic simulation system on the basis of maritime simulator, which is developed by Dalian Maritime University independently. The main work has done as follows:1.Analysis of the content involved in vessel traffic simulation system. Through a large number of relevant literatures and the investigation, this research analyzed the function should be contained in the vessel traffic simulation system. Then it summarized the three main functions of the system:vessel traffic management simulation, personnel training, experiment and demonstration. According to the demand of simulation system, the research analyzed the practical processes and simulation functions of each part in detail.2.The design of vessel traffic simulation system and its modules in detail. According to the demand of the simulation and the experience of maritime simulator development, the research construct the vessel traffic simulation system framework based on design principle of DIS(Distributed Interactive Simulation) and HLA(High Level Architecture). The system is divided into the system control center, database management system, the simulation experiment center, vessel traffic service operator training module, subsystem based on maritime simulator system owner ship, subsystem based on ECDIS(Electronic Chart Display and Information System). There will be different design schemes according to the characteristics of each part of the system. This study researched the key technology of the simulator system and put forward the solutions for it.3.The vessel traffic simulation system has implemented the function of personnel training preliminary. According to the rules of IALA, the requirements for personnel training of VTS Centers of Tianjin port, Weihai port and Dalian Port, this research developed the vessel traffic simulation system based on the platform of VS2010, and the interface library of Codejoke company’s Xtreme ToolKit, and realized the function of vessel traffic management operator training. There are 5 scenes included in the vessel traffic management operator training, the information service, navigation services, traffic organization service, emergency services, respectively.
