Create a cultural brand, achieve the across from cultural province to the resources province and accelerate the transformation of economic structure development in Shanxi province, are the strategies to be a cultural province in recent years. Shanxi Merchants’House culture is the representation of the cultural tourism brand. To relive the glory of Shanxi Merchants’House and make it possible to be more intuitive and immersed in the most original and most complete Shanxi Merchants’House by panoramic view, the paper discusses the architectural heritage of virtual reality technology roaming creative design based on theoretical and practical aspects,taking Shanxi Merchants’Cao’s Courtyard interactive roaming system of digital art creation as an example.Virtual reality art is a highly fusion of art and technology as a new digital art form. Based on the discussion of digital virtual reality technology, this paper focuses on the combination of art and technology in order to discuss the procedures and methods of building a virtual architectural art. As a new digital artwork, artistic is fundation and soul of the technical, authenticity and interactivity creation of virtual ancient architecture. So "truely representing" the ancient architecture and its implication for art and culture to the possibly extent is necessary:the work of "authenticity" relys on technical means, but should pay attention to the use of artistic means and should emphasize artistic works in order to achieve upgrading the charm of the works as a goal ultimately. In addition, virtual reality works should be close to the public to the maximum extent, that is, need to enhance the popularity.The example part of this paper is the design and implementation of "Cao’s home courtyard interactive roaming system". The existing yard of Cao’s Courtyard is just one of the original four, the other three yards have not existed. This paper does the research of virtual roaming digital design of the existing "Shou" shaped yard called "Sanduotang", discussing the virtual characteristics, technique, artistry and interactivity of "Cao’s home courtyard interactive roaming system" from theoretical and practical point of view, showing the detailed work process of virtual ancient architecture and what’s more, providing more theoretical and creative experience for virtual restoration of ancient buildings but also finding the reasonable and effective ways and methods for the completion of three other missing Cao’s yards’ restoration.The paper also make people from another angle to experience the new culture of Shanxi by "Cao’s home courtyard interactive roaming system".
