Heating stations are important infrastructures to ensure people’s normal life. It is of great significance to ensure them to run normally and stably, which will need their staff to maintain, so the training work of staff is also very important.With the development of society, the shortcomings of traditional training methods to train staff in heating stations are gradually showing. Traditional classroom training methods can only train limited amount of people, and the quality of training is not balance enough. And training methods based on videos do not have interactivity, thus unable to meet the individual needs of the staff. Training methods based on design drawings are too abstract, the effect of showing each component in heating station in the 3D space isn’t vivid and intuitive enough. Moreover, on-site training methods have higher costs, and it’s difficult to make the trainee understand the internal structure of components in heating stations easily, also, these methods have security risks.Aiming at the inadequacies of traditional methods to train heating station staff, this paper adopts virtual simulation technology to design and implement a 3D heating stations virtual simulation system. First, the scene data in heating stations is collected, include each component and spatial structure of heating stations, and the 3D models are built, then the system demonstrates each component’s assembly and disassembly process in a virtual 3D scene in the form of animation, and, the system implements the human-computer interaction between trainee and virtual scene. Research work of this paper mainly includes the following aspects:Firstly, the needs of simulation system are analyzed, and the following design goals of the simulation system are determined:1. A component management system is designed to manage 3D models of components in heating stations.2. A mechanism is devised to define the assembly process, which is allowed to read assembly and disassembly process from an external file to increase scalability of the system. For the sake of readability, the XML file format should be used in which the definition of assembly and disassembly process is saved in the external file.3. An automatic assembly and disassembly simulation mode is designed, in which the system automatically simulates the assembly and disassembly process of components in heating stations, and this process is demonstrated to the user in the form of 3D animation.4. A manual assembly and disassembly simulation model is designed, which allows user to manually control various components in heating stations to simulate the assembly and disassembly process.Secondly, according to the design goals, based on MFC and Open Scene Graph graphics library, this paper designs the system’s general framework and modules, then detailed design of each module is carried out.Finally, according to the results of system design, this paper describes the implementation methods module by module in detail.With the help of the heating station 3D virtual simulation system which isn’t limited by time and space, trainees can repeatedly practice and become familiar with the structure of heating stations and assembly and disassembly process of components in heating stations. This system not only can increase the efficiency and quality of training work of staff in heating stations, but also can reduce the cost of training work significantly.
