In order to meet the development trend of the intelligent gas gate station, develop the training quality, and reduce the security risks, this paper will design and implement a set of three-dimensional(3D) virtual simulation training system of gas gate station. Combined with virtual reality(VR) technology and gas gate station training system, this system uses OpenSceneGraph(OSG) to manage and render the station scene. QT technology to realize the interface and menu response. Simulation is mainly the training contents of gas gate station, including normal operations, fault simulation, emergency plans and virtual testing, etc.According to the analysis of the simulation training system’s research status, this paper extracts the key technologies and conducts in-depth research. Firstly,3D modeling technology is proposed, and the modeling process from solid modeling, property modeling to scene building is then elaborated separately in detail. Secondly, we analyze the key technology OSG virtual simulation in-depth, including scene rendering, scene roaming, human-computer interaction, collision detection, particle systems, lighting effects and other technologies. Finally, the Web version of the 3D rendering engine HT for Web(HT) technology is introduced.In this paper, we take a gas gate station in Jinan as the prototype, and design the system framework combined with system features and functional requirements. Then, based on the key technologies, we build the simulation platform and conduct the simulation implementation which focuses on the student client. The student client consists of five modules. Daily inspection module mainly achieves scene roaming function, fixed path settings, and interface control functions such as roaming parameters. Scene assembling module implements the construction of the entire gate station. Simulation exercise module provides basic interactive features, it can simulate common business practice operations. Virtual testing module implements business assessment for trainees. Emergency plan module provides training for common fault exception, which is very helpful to improve the student’s emergency response capabilities. The main function of the teacher server is fault exception settings and monitoring.Finally, drawing on the development experience of the C/S version, this paper conducts a preliminary exploration for the B/S version by using the 3D rendering engine HT. We build the system framework, and achieve the basic functions preliminary such as station preview, scene roaming, equipment dynamic simulation and so on. What’s more, detailed comparison with the C/S version is made, and new direction for the subsequent study is presented.Conclusions show that this system has features of high fidelity, strong sense of immersion, short training period and low cost. It can not only meet the basic training requirements of the gas gate station, but can also improve the training quality and the station safety performance effectively. It provides strong technical support for the gas training institutions, and it has certain reference value to the gas training industry.
