With the acceleration of urbanization and industrialization in China, construction companies are getting larger and larger and more and more enterprises tend to operate a number of projects at the same time. However, the limited human, material and financial resources in the enterprise as well as the complex and changeable economic, political background and natural environment make risk factors for enterprise operating at the same time a number of projects more than that for the same enterprise operating the single project. Thus, the uniqueness of the construction project itself determines that a project can’t be successfully completed without construction enterprises’strengthening the project risk management and improving the ability to prevent risks. Therefore, it is extremely necessary to conduct a risk management study concerning the whole process of construction in the light of a promising future of construction enterprises. In this thesis, the author uses the method of combining theory and practice to conduct a comprehensive study. Through repeatedly using comparative analysis, the author compares domestic and foreign researches on multi-project construction risk management, reviews the definitions and characteristics of whole-process management, multi-project management and construction risk management, and redefines the multi-project construction. Through above-mentioned comprehensive analysis, the author concludes that the study object is multi-project risk management covering the whole process of construction. In this paper, whole-process management expertise is used to identify and evaluate the risks. Also, risk control countermeasures and suggestions are proposed. After visiting the manager and related personnel of the First Construction Engineering Group in Henan province, China, the author obtained first-hand case material and carried out the research of multi-project risk management involved in the whole process of constructing through quantitative analysis with the improved unascertained mathematical model. In this thesis, based on the current risk research model home and abroad as well as on the analysis of the theory of multi-project management, risk management, multi-project risk management and the whole-process risk management, the risks are classified and a risk evaluation model for whole-process multi-project is established. Risk management is divided into four stages according to the time covered on multi-project construction. The first stage is for management defining and decision making. In the second stage, people concerned need to do planning and designing. The third stage is time for implementation and controls, while the fourth, completion acceptance. The whole process of risk management consists of four steps. First is risk identification stage when multi-project risk factors are identified comprehensively and systematically. Second, whole-process risk assessment model is built in order for risk evaluation, which is a model consisting of not only the major risk assessment in the implementation of multi-project construction but also specific risk evaluation involved in the above-mentioned four respective stages. Third, according to the results of the risk assessment, the author puts forward practical and feasible risk prevention and control measures including both specific risk countermeasures and periodic risk ones. Fourth, the author summarizes the effect of risk management. In conclusion, through the study of the whole-process multi-project risk management, the author provides a risk management model in implementing multi-project construction, which can be a help for the First Construction Engineering Group in Henan province in improving the ability to identifying and fighting risks. At the same time, the author finds that there still exist limitations in risk management of the construction enterprise and thus proposes suggestions on how to make up those imperfections and how to inspire the construction enterprise risk management innovative thinking, in the hope of reducing the losses of the enterprises and maximizing their profit.
