The Research On Operating Delay And Improvement Of Bus Rapid Transit

As a means of transportation between rail transit and general traffic system,the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system become the priority to solve the traffic problems effectively in most cities. The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system characterized in its low cost, flexible setting, short construction period, fast operating speed and large capacity. Many domestic cities actively put forward BRT plans and built the BRT system. But the BRT system could operating in low efficiency due to the road congestion in cities thus lead to low efficiency operation and improper management issues Based on this background, the thesis tries to make explorations on the BRT operation delay and the correspoding resolutions for it.In this thesis, the following three aspects are to be studied in detail:the statistical characteristics of BRT operating characteristics, model construction of delay, improvement and optimization method for delay.For the study of statistical characteristics of operating characteristics, the composition; advantages/disadvantages; influence factors of the BRT system are described specifically. These laid a foundation for the presentation of the definition for operating delay and its measurement indexes. When it comes to the construction of delay model for BRT problem, the operating features of BRT are explored in different locations such as bus stop, cross and road. Through analyzing factors which affect operating delay and the loss of time of BRT hrough ut the operation, we establish a delay model for BRT after evolution and correction. As for the improvement and optimization method for BRT delay, it puts forward the corresponding strategies for it thereby reducing the loss of time BRT in operating process and improve the operating efficiency of BRT in the system from different locations.At present, the research and analysis of BRT operation is rare, so the thesis enrich the study by a specific explorations on it. Based on the characteristics of the general bus delay and BRT operation, the studyget the loss time in BRT through the delay model, and puts forward the suggestions and measures BRT system in Ji’nan to improve the BRT system operation status, enhance BRT operation efficiency, and provide the scientific reference for the city public passenger transport department.
