During the development process of Zhengzhou Airport Economic Experimental Zone, a large number of ancient buildings are faced with the dilemma of damage or demolition. The rural traditional space also confronted with destruction and alienation. How to retain rural traditional space under the urban civilization impact becomes an practical problem which needs to be solved urgently in the urbanization evolution process. The finish of "Henan Province Approval on Off-site Migration Protection of Ground Dwellings as Cultural Relics Points in Zhengzhou Experimental Area, Zhengzhou Airport Economic Experimental Zone" ensures the ex-situ relocation of 84 ancient buildings in Zhengzhou Experimental Area. This paper aims to study how ancient buildings reconstructs the rural traditional space after relocation.The paper is divided into four parts. The first part is to ask questions, including the first chapter about introduction. At first the paper defines related concepts and put forward the research background, purpose and significance which leads to the necessity of the research. On the basis of current policy and theory research and practical experience at home and abroad, it sums up the development status of traditional space reconstruction theory at home and abroad which provide guidance for the proposed issues and solutions below.The second part is to analysis problems, including chapter 2 and chapter 3. It analyses the material composition and evolution of the rural traditional space. Besides, it analyses the conservation status and dilemma of the rural traditional space and ancient houses in Zhengzhou Experimental Area and motives and mechanisms to emerge this status. It explores the practicability for ancient architecture relocation and rural traditional space reconstruction in Zhengzhou Experimental Area.The third part is to solve the problems, including chapter 4 and chapter 5. Based on the previous theoretical foundations study and the village current situation analysis in Zhengzhou Experimental Area, it explores the objectives, principles, patterns and methods of the rural traditional space reconstruction and put the theory into design achievements. Besides, it provides detailed introduction and analysis.The fourth part is Conclusions, including chapter 6. It sorts out relevant arguments and provides a general summary. It puts forward rural traditional space reconstruction proposals under the background of urban renewal.
