The Study On The Conservation And Continuance Of The Traditional Space For The Inner City Of Ganzhou

Ganzhou, locating in the south of Jiangxi province, with Guangdong close together, was settled down between Zhangshui and Gongshui River more than 1400 years ago. The advantage of the geography position, made the city a pivotal place in the transportation from south to the north, which brought it with great fortune.In 1994, Ganzhou was specified as a historic city of city, it is called a city with mountain and river hugging, a city with rich heritage of Song and a city with relics of Republic of China. The first title describes the natural scene of Ganzhou, while the second one, indicates the rich historic heritage in the old city,such as the 3000 meter city wall, the ancient sewer system, and the free alleys. Besides the ancient buildings and the streets, there are also latter-day constructions. The former residence of Jiang Jingguo and the sotto portico were all built during the period of Republic of China. The distinctive heritages together bring Ganzhou with characteristic city space.This paper is supposed to analysis physical environment such as the natural structure, alley space and the traditional dwellings of the inner city of Ganzhou, specify its characteristic in macroscopic structure, city boundary, skyline, scale, texture and so forth. The precedents in and abroad are here used for reference to seek a way to maintain the significant factors in the traditional city space by city design, to form a network of the important architectures and the distinctive alleys, to activate the old vernacular dwellings by changing its function, after all to make the old city an organic part of the whole city pattern.
