Underground pipeline laying is an important part of the city infrastructure. Underground pipeline construction quality directly affects the future operation and development of the city. Its’ methods divide into trenchless and excavation, the method of trenchless is divided into pipe-jacking method, shield, horizontal directional drilling method and the pound tube. Pipe Jacking range of applications where a wider, better prospects. Currently, domestic pipe jacking only adopted under special circumstances such as encountered obstructions or ground transportation can not be interrupted. There is not enough experience in the construction and theory to determine how much advantage of the pipe jacking.Research on pipe jacking should mainly research on adaptability issues, adaptability analysis will decide whether to adopt the pipe jacking method and taken which kind of jacking methods. Adaptability of pipe jacking for less in domestic, most studies have been limited in terms of soil formation and applications adaptability. Due to the adaptability of pipe jacking complex, involving many factors and wide ranges. The current study didn’t evaluated adaptability comprehensively and systematically. Therefore, it is difficult to provide help for the selected pipe jacking scheme.In this paper, analyzing pipe jacking by classifying pipe jacking construction technology, in terms of pipe jacking technology, economy and society to analyze the adaptability of pipe jacking. On the basis of analyzing the adaptability features and costs of pipe jacking in Chongqing Fuling, establishing a comprehensive evaluation system and using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to analyze the adaptability of different pipe jacking method and to provide a reference for selecting programs of urban underground pipeline laying, pipe jacking technology applications.Analysis and evaluation results show that the adaptability of pipe jacking needs to be considered from the soil, construction conditions, design requirements, and economic, social and environmental aspects. In addition, the direct costs of pipe jacking is high, however, it produces a lower indirect costs and social costs. Therefore, the total cost of pipe jacking is usually lower than excavation and other trenchless methods. Different projects should be considered for each project specific engineering geological conditions to determine the construction method. Various construction methods are not unique, it is should be considered the overall equipment effectiveness and unity to getting on scheme comparison.
