Ship adaptability of wave environment refers to the comprehensive response of the seakeeping, speed, maneuverability, stability and stealth characteristics in the real ocean wave environment. It is closely related to the performance of the ship. Environmental adaptability of domestic surface ships is still lagging behind of the foreign advanced surface ships.Especially the environmental adaptability of wind and waves which is closely related to the performance of surface ship platform is to be improved. At present, the research on the evaluation system of the marine environmental adaptability mainly considers the static water environment, which seldom considers the effect of wave and most of them are in rapid,seakeeping and manipulation of individual performance evaluation system. There is a great gap between the environmental adaptability of the ship and the actual ship. Domestic research on surface ship's environmental adaptability is also just started. The research on the evaluation index system of environmental adaptability in wave is not much enough, which is also a major evaluation of the seakeeping. In this paper, a scientific and reasonable evaluation index system is established for the ship's environmental adaptability in response to the various performance of the ship in the wind and waves. Three kinds of multi-objective comprehensive evaluation methods are studied, including analytic hierarchy process method, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method and multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) There is also discussion on the application of the application in the assessment of the environmental adaptability of surface ships in this paper. The main research contents include the following aspects:(1) The ship seakeeping, speed, maneuverability, stability, stealth performance in the wave are studied. By analyzing the relevant characteristic parameters of each individual performance index, the reasonable selection of the characteristic parameters which influence the environmental adaptability of the ship's wind and waves is used as an evaluation index,establishing a scientific and reasonable evaluation index system of the environmental adaptability of the ship in wind and waves.(2) Referring to the existing evaluation index system of ship navigation performance,combined with the needs of the assessment of wind and waves environmental adaptability, the selection of the criterion of each evaluation index of the wind and waves environmental adaptability of surface ships is analyzed and demonstrated in order to determine and the criterion of each evaluation index.(3) The analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method are studied, including the determination method of weight and the method of establishing evaluation model, and discusses the application of these two evaluation methods to the assessment of environmental adaptability of a ship in wind and waves.(4) Discuss in detail the multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) method,do research on the application of MDO thought to analyze the coupling effects of the dynamic interaction between the indexes and the thought of the MDO coupling is add to the construction of evaluation model, to construct the target function of each performance discipline the and the multi-objective decision function;(5) Taking the optimization of a ship type as an example, applicate AHP, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method and MDO to assess the environmental adaptability of a ship in wind and waves, to get the quantitative assessment values of each ship type, and the results of the of two methods of multi-objective comprehensive evaluation aimed to each ship type and the evaluation process and characteristics are analyzed and compared, and by the feedback of the evaluation results to the main scale,the advice of optimization selection on a ship type main scale is given.
