The development of modern manufacturing technology is driving the development of automobile industry in our country rapidly. Hydraulic torque converter as an important power transmission part of automobile, its types are more and more abundant. Its processing, manufacturing and performance testing technologies are also bound to develop in the direction of automation and flexibility. Hydraulic torque converter bench test is the key link of hydraulic torque converter performance test. However, there are many defects on the traditional hydraulic torque converter test system, such as test items are fixed,and the system can’t change settings of hardware equipment and software hardware flexibility, etc. These defects result in wasting of resources and the system is poor in the reconfigurability.The paper mainly aims to make up the shortages of the traditional test system of hydraulic torque converter. For this purpose,the paper designs and demonstrates an overall scheme of the hydraulic torque converter performance flexible test system,to upgrade, improve and expand the functions of the system on the base of existing hardware and the latest development of testing technology.Research is mainly focused on software modules, data acquisition and processing,accomplish process, and other core technologies of system design. Paper’s main research contents and conclusions are as follows:(1)According to the hydraulic torque converter testing requirements, the components of various subsystems are studied. The test rig consists of power measuring system, mechanical drive system, oil supply system and automatic test system, etc. Firstly, the overall scheme of the hydraulic torque converter test rig is elaborated; then, the components and principles of various subsystems are studied; lastly, the selection principles of the hardware platform are explained.(2)The development process of hydraulic torque converter performance test system software by Lab VIEW is studied. For the whole system, software is the key to realize flexible testing technology. Man-machine interfaces andmodules of the software are introduced in detail. The development of the data acquisition module and data processing module is highlighted, including the data parameters reading, data acquisition, data communication, curve fitting, date preservation and call, etc.(3)The concept of flexible testing is explained, and the realization of flexible testing technology in the system is discussed. In the hardware platform,the flexibility is mainly reflected on hardware selection and reconstruction.Flexible testing idea is mainly embodied in the software. According to different testing project, testing process are different too, and the process is mainly controlled by software; there are two data acquisition modes, single-point acquisition and continuous acquisition; the interpolation and curve fitting method of data processing can also be user- defined; data can be saved for a variety of data types for call.Compared with the traditional test system, the system in this paper uses Lab VIEW virtual instrument technology. All test contents are included in its abundant function modules, by the combination of various modules to achieve different test functions. The software is open, and easy to change and expand.Through the test, it has been verified that, the hydraulic torque converter performance flexible testing system in this paper can greatly improve the defects of traditional testing system, and has great practical significance.
