This paper summarizes the status and developing direction and the important action on the modern industry of the structural design of gantry crane in our country and foreign. Study the holistic and local static performance of gantry crane structure. In present, as to the structural design of gantry crane, the main method generally depend on the classic mechanical theory, the mathematic theory, the experiential method and other relative traditional method, which make the design in low-precision.. More over, the study of the local detail in structure design is not in-depth. This paper use the theory of finite element, analyse the static performance and local stress distribution of the crane. Except all of the work can be used to direct the method of design, improve the design project and advance the technical performance of crane.On basis of the producing fact need of Zhenhua port machinery company in Shanghai, the author study 600t gantry crane of it. Set forth the related and actualized theory about the crane. On the basis of structure analysis, create the modal of the crane, element partition, DOF disposal and loads disposal etc.The study process is mainly composed of two parts: the static analysis of whole crane and the stress distribution analysis of local parts in crane. Use the CAD/CAE compositive software COSMOS/Works, get out the results; know the mainly static performance of the crane and the stress concentration status of the holes on the structure and intersecting joints of circular tubes. Evaluate the product in science attitude; put forward some problems that should be attached importance to.This paper is mainly to do some attempt and exploring to the method of computer engineering analysis and the method of local detail design for crane. Expect the method used in this paper and the conclusion should be benefit to the relative study on the gantry crane.
