With the development of digital design technology in the manufacture, the manufacturing precision of sheet metal parts has improved dramatically. This requires a higher inspection accuracy and efficiency of sheet metal parts. The inspection planning including detection steps, detection method, tolerance of dimension, and detection tools of the products and parts, and is very an important task for detection work. The traditional inspection planning means is no longer suitable for today’s information era, so three needs a new kind of digital inspection planning to replace the traditional way of planning.Digital inspection planning technology is the key of product quality control. This paper studies the integration design of inspection planning system for sheet metal parts based on 3D model. We abandoned the original inspection planning system design by the VC6.0, instead of the new system design by CAA, integrate it into the CATIA. Firstly, it introduces the software environment of inspection planning system for sheet metal parts based on 3D model, including a brief introduction of CATIA V5, the principle of the CAA C++ technology and architecture, the overall framework and implementation method of inspection planning system. Secondly, it researched the subsystem of inspection planning system in detail. It researched the working principle, working process and realization method of the interactive inspection planning system, the intelligent expert planning system and photoelectric equipment inspection planning system. Thirdly, it increased 3D representation technology of the inspection information for each subsystem, which realized the closed-loop design for the whole system. Finally, it tests the whole planning system, including the hardware integration, software integration, and the preliminary test results of the whole system. Through testing, this system basically meets the design requirements. It provides a good technical support for Machinery industryThis article aims to explore an application of traditional and digital ways to inspection planning techniques and application mode under the three-dimensional digital inspection environment, generate and publish inspection reports, back the results to sheet metal parts inspection system, while the sheet metal to construct a reasonable inspection planning system database storage model, inspection characteristics, test specification, inspection rules and other data, historical data collected regularly updated statistical analysis process causes errors caused further process for the design and processing process adjustments provide fast and accurate data support.
