With the rapid development of national economy, power equipment are widely used in power plants, oil industries, chemical industries, metallurgical industries,textile industries, construction industries and other industries. Power switching cabinets are important equipment used as power transmission, power distribution and energy conversion, its running safely and stably is important safeguards of electric safety. Internet of Things is a new technology in recent years. It mainly gets basic information of things with sensor technology in perception layer, transports information with Internet technology in transmission layer. Finally, in application layer, we can recognition, management and operation information with the computer technology. Therefore, Internet of Things is a new network technology with the intelligent recognition location tracking technology and intelligent monitoring and management technology.This paper combines Internet of Things technology with power switching equipment, proposes Remote Power Switching Equipment Monitoring System Based on Internet of Things to increase the level of power switching equipment’s remote detection and monitoring on site. This paper has the following mainly jobs:(1) Introduction the overall design ideas of Intelligent Power Switching Equipment Monitoring System. Analysis each layers’ key technology with the perception layer, transmission layer and application layer of the Internet of Things technology and illustration the feasibility of system implementation.(2) Designed the Digital Terminal of power switching equipment based on sensor technology in perception layer of Internet of Things. Explain the realizing method of hardware and software of Digital Terminal with MCU technology in project. At the same time, Introduction the GPRS communication controller as the transmission layer of Internet of Things. GPRS communication controller as thebridge of data transceiver, it is very important in this project.(4) Designed the Information Management Software with the computer technology in application layer of Internet of Things. The software can loop monitoring and control the power switching equipment in net. It also can real-time monitoring the states of power switching equipment on site and transport the states information, alarming information and failure record of the power switching equipment.Finally, this paper had a series of tests with experimental samples’ performance and networking. Analysis and improvement the problems through the debugging process. The results show that the system has many advantages such as high precision,safe and reliable, low false alarm rate, easy operation and maintenance and so on. The system can use in industry power switching equipment to remote detection, intelligent management and intelligent monitoring.
