| Bamboo weaving is a great characteristic intangible cultural heritage, which has high value. Due to the old artists gradually passing, an age gap occurs. Traditional bamboo weaving is facing a crisis of heritage and development. Meanwhile, the interest of people to handicraft and the demand of manual experience are expanding.DIY products are being sought. Excellent experiential and creative of bamboo weaving have a high degree of similarity to DIY products. This paper tries to combine DIY and bamboo weaving, and explores a new direction for traditional bamboo weaving from the perspective of DIY.This paper sorts out the related knowledge about bamboo weaving and DIY, and analysis the existing DIY products. It provides a foundation for subsequent development of DIY bamboo weaving products. We understand the current situation of bamboo weaving and explore the key difficulties in making bamboo weaving in some ways, such as visiting bamboo weaving factory, interviewing old artists, sorting out existing bamboo weaving courses and finishing the experiment of bamboo weaving to the novice user. From above, this paper proposes bamboo weaving DIY product design development strategies, as follow: making easily by designing aids,clarifying pick press relations by changing thinking and understanding, innovating weave patterns and knitting methods, increasing beauty and remedying defects by combining with other materials, simplifying and optimizing process, from easy to difficult, innovating application objects to adapt to modern life, more options by Series development, and more than.Finally, considering the proposed strategy as the design guidance, we carry out the DIY bamboo weaving product program development design and practice from the warp and woof knitting, hexagonal knitting, spiral knitting and others. It will liberate craft so that more people contact bamboo weaving and develop bamboo weaving to more creativity. |
