The countries all over the world pay attention to the railway acceleration, and the reliability, safety and comfort of train has been keeping high-profile. China’s railway development has a gratifying achievements in recent 20 years, and especially has accumulated extensive experience in high-speed rail construction. Bogie frame is not only the ties of every parts and components, but also is the main body when the force transmited as key components of the bogie. Mechanical properties of the bogie frame plays an important role for the overall performance of the vehicle.In this paper, the basic theory of finite element and analysis method were described at first, then the finite element analysis software was simple introduced. According to the actual project, the three-dimensional entity modeling of a EMU bogie frame by Solid Works which is a CAD software,and imports 3d geometry model to ANSYS Workbench which is a finite element software who has powerful function of repairing the complex geometry,meshing and finite element analysis. Besides, the software carry out the simulation calculation about strength analysis and modal analysis quickly and accurately. The simulation results can be screened by stress and strain contours show. According to the calculation results and industrial JIS E 4207 standards, fatigue analysis for the bogie frame has been solved. The Goodman diagram is drawn out, and reflects the mechanical properties of the bogie-frame’s key points directly.According to the simulation analysis and calculation results, bogie frame’s lowest modal vibration frequency is 38. 184 Hz, which avoids the train minimum vibration frequency, and prevent the resonance phenomenon successfully. The force situation of each part of the frame were also illustrated by strength analysis. Though comparing the research strength and modal analysis of the architecture of mechanical properties, the stress of under cover for the frame is larger in the arc area, where connects to the turning arm positioning seat area. Some other positions also appear stress concentration, such as tube beam and side beam connection area,welding area of the tube beam connected to the longitudinal beam and braking crane beam.Three kinds of strain structure happens to the frame when it’s under the condition of different vibrations, which are the periodic torsional shear strain, bending and swinging strain. The movement direction trend of some nodes is contrary and stress concentration in the frame,where are dangerous area for fatigue damage easily. The simulation results has beenconcluded, then these data are summarized calculation to get the result, which the mechanical properties of the key parts conform to the standard and meet the design requirements.
