The Tibetan nationality is a treasure house with bright history, culture and art, in which monastic architecture is a crucial constituent part. With Buddhism being introduced widely and the change of religious sects, monastic architecture does not only bear the materialized symbol of the traditional Tibetan culture, but also inherits the belief of religious culture in Tibetan Buddhism. What’s more, Tibetan people’ construction activities and aesthetic orientation are effected by the monastic architecture. The temple construction is the symbol of Tibetan architecture, which reflects its overall art level, no matter seen from its site selection and layout, construction technology, decorative appearance,or interior design. Therefore, research on decorative art of Tibetan temple construction is an inevitable point to look into Tibetan history, culture, and art.As the mutual penetration and influence of the natural environment with building culture in surrounding area, Tibetan temple architecture appears regional feature, which forms three relatively independent areas, but they also have some certain contact. Seen from its decorative art, they are Weizang area with solemnity and simplicity, Kangba area with gorgeous feature, Anduo area with rough ruggedness. This structure formed is deeply effected by Tibetan history, the development of TibetanBuddhism and rich natural products and environment. Through revealing temple architecture’s present appearances and characters in difference areas and comparing temple architectures from architectural space function, plane layout, religious ideas, decorative method, and used materials, it is not difficult to find that Tibet temple architectures all are products of Tibetan Buddhism, but there are many internal sects in Tibetan Buddhism. Therefore, different temple architectures have their own style and feature. Research on these distinctions plays an important role in studying different sects’ doctrine and ideology. At the same time, these methods were ignored in previous studies of the history of Tibetan Buddhism and constructions. The regional feature on Tibetan temple architecture’s design reflects Tibetan nationality’s comprehension to foreign culture, devotion to belief, reverence to nature, pursue to beautiful life. Possessing the spirit of creation encouraged by this attitude, should be valued for protecting and inheriting Tibetan Buddhism architecture. In addition, It is beneficial to modern architecture design.
