With fast development of the society, structures with vertical irregularity are used in actual projects, but the complexity of the kind of structure makes the theory on seismic design lack study. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the study on seismic design of structures with vertical irregularity. This paper built the calculate model of an S type vertical irregular frame core tube hybrid structure with SAP2000 and studied the seismic performance including dynamic characteristics and response.Based on these, we summarized the general laws of this kind of structure. The main contents are as follows:(1)By the analysis of the dynamic characteristics to structure, we got mass participation factor and model information.(2)By the analysis of response spectrum, we summarized the response characteristics of the vertical irregular frame wall structure under the earthquake and judge the reasonableness of structure form.(3)By both the elastic time history analysis under the usual earthquake and nonlinear time history analysis under rare earthquake, we got the transient response lows of the vertical irregular frame wall structure, the influence coming from the vertical earthquake to side shift and lows of change from elastic state to plasticity state.(4)By the energy dissipation analysis, we contrasted the response lows between setting viscoelastic damper and setting none and we discussed the damping effect.
