As the number of waste glass solid increasing in countries around the world,cause the resource wasted and environmental polluted. Using the waste glass in building materials is an effective method to recycle and utilize the waste glass. When waste glass was added as an aggregate in concrete,there will be alkali silica reaction, which leading to concrete cracking and affecting the safety of the structure. A new research direction is pulverize waste glass to powder material, similar to fly ash, silicon ash and coal gangue, as supplementary cementing materials join in the concrete. A number of researches have found that the waste glass powder would not lead to alkali silica reaction basically,when the fineness is lesser,it can not only restrain alkali silica reaction, but also has the high activity of ash. Study the activity of waste glass powder and the dangers of alkali silica reaction,Further research on the mechanical properties and improving the durability of concrete,will help to recycle the waste glass and promote it in concrete,which also can reduce environmental pollution, and save the increasingly shortage of building materials, and guarantee the sustainable development of resource utilization. The activity of the waste glass powder is systematic studied in this experimental,on the basis of activity research, the experiment studied the its impacts to alkali silica reaction. Collected three different colors of glass and grinding to get four different fineness(ball mill 10 min,15 min,25 and 35 min) of glass powder,study its strength activity index under different age and dosage,evaluation of the influence of various parameters on the activity. Selecting the white glass powder by 35 minutes ball mill,screening to get the glass powder in different size section(<53,53-75,75-150,150-300,300-600 and 600-900μm)and prepare to get the glass powder of D=2.1~2.8. Research the impact on the inhibition of alkaline silica reaction in different grain size and fractal dimension,and study the influence on mortar expansion rate value under different dosage and age. Studies have shown that the strength activity index of waste glass powder was increased with the increase of specific surface area, there is a good linear relationship between those two, and the color can affect it too. The strength activity index of waste glass powder is smaller than the fly ash before 28 days when the specific surface area is close to fly ash. But the strength activity index of waste glass powder can approach the fly ash’s after 28 days, reaching to 90% even more than 100%. Analyze on SEM,XRD and the pH of paste pore solution show that waste glass powder can react with Ca(OH)2, the angular shape of glass powder have micro-aggregate tenon plug effect,it is beneficial to improve the pore structure of the system and the strength of specimens. The waste glass powder has good inhibition to ASR when the particle size is less than 150 microns or fractal dimension D > 2.3, but when the particle size during 150~300 microns or D = 2.3,the inhibition effect is not obvious. The bigger the particle size or the smaller the fractal dimension,the greater impaction on the inflation rate value. Dosage affect the ASR is related to grain size and fractal dimension,when the grain size is less than 150 microns or fractal dimension D > 2.3 of waste glass powder,the inflation rate value is becoming small with the increasing of dosage.
