The emergence of Computer Aided Design technology let the Construction Industry entered a new phase, and 2D CAD technology architectural design has become mainstream. With the development of information technology, compared to the Manufacturing Industry with high informationization level, the Construction Industry is gradually emerging out of its drawbacks,such as the low production efficiency,and serious waste. Building Information Modeling(BIM) is a better solution of these problems.As the foundation of BIM, establish the 3D information model make different parties from projects exchanging and sharing the information in building lifecycle, so that the production efficiency and the quality of the project can be improved greatly, and reduce the probability of error, and reduce waste.As a costly, long construction period and related to urban development, application BIM technology in urban rail transit system is imperative. The key of BIM technology is the informationization 3D model of urban rail transit, this paper mainly research on the methods of construct the BIM model of urban rail transit.At first, introduce the definition, background of BIM,and a variety software of BIM. Among them, living in the heart of the various types of software is the core modeling software, which is responsible for creating 3D model with information, is the basis for BIM applications. Then discussed the shortcomings of urban rail transit construction in current times,and analyse the benefit of urban rail transit using BIM, and select the Revit Architecture of Autodesk as the core modeling software to create urban rail transit BIM model, using adaptive templates, conventional model template and volume template create the roadbed, bridge and tunnel’s family. Finally, through the Application Programming Interface of Revit create family instance in the project, and achieve the BIM model of urban rail transit.
