With the deepening of urbanization in China, big cities are generally facing a series of problems, such as the expansion of regional residential population, the shortage of land use,and traffic congestion. At the same time, the main direction of future urban planning development is to promote the coordinated development of urban rail transit and urban land use by drawing on advanced TOD(Transit Oriented Development)theory and successful experience. In the case of the increasingly prominent contradiction between urban transportation demand and space resources, how to use the concept of comprehensive development to link the high efficiency of land use with urban rail transit centered urban regional planning, and make full use of the existing space support to establish the overall regional layout with urban rail transit stations as the key nodes, have become an urgent problem for the upper-level planners. This study takes the undeveloped blocks around the urban rail transit station as the research object.Based on TOD theory, this research uses quantitative model to optimize the land use layout around the existing urban rail transit stations in China, and provides efficient and feasible land use planning scheme for urban planners.Considering the economic, social and environmental benefits of land development around urban rail transit stations, this study establishes a multi-objective optimization model with the objectives of maximizing the number of rail transit passengers, road traffic accessibility, land use compactness, land use function mixing degree, and minimizing the land use conflict degree and environmental impact.Considering the influence of developed land on the optimization process of undeveloped land blocks, this study provides an analytical basis for the quantitative optimization of the land status around rail transit stations. Then, based on the immune optimization mechanism and the basic theory of genetic algorithm,an improved IGA(immune genetic algorithm)is devised to solve the proposed model of land use problem around urban rail transit station.Compared with the traditional IGA,the improved IGA uses the antibody activity as the fitness index, sets a perfect elite strategy and adaptive crossover probability and mutation probability,so as to obtain more effective approximate optimal solutions and non-dominated solutions under different target preferences.Based on the optimal solution set corresponding to the multi-objective model, urban planners are able to choose different land use planning schemes from the alternative solutions according to the interest orientation, and then obtain the land use layout and development intensity around the urban rail transit station. Finally, this study obtains relevant data of land development surrounding Jinghailu urban rail transit station of E-town in Beijing through field investigation. This work evaluates the land use status around the station and then carries out land use optimization in view of the existing problems of the current land use layout around the station to validate the proposed multi-objective land use optimization model and improved IGA method. Moreover, this research makes a comprehensive comparative analysis of the proposed multi-objective land use optimization model and the existing commonly used model in the case study. The results demonstrate that proposed model is able to provide land use planning schemes around the rail transit station in line with the actual situation and better optimization effects for urban planners. This paper contains 19 figures,11 tables and 81 references.
